Who are we? The CBN Team revealed! Anele Mhlahlo
After just over two years of operation, largely with volunteers and scraping by on minimal funding, we now have a regular team who work on an hourly basis (and still a lot of volunteer hours) with passion and enthusiasm. We will be introducing each one over the next few days. In alphabetical order they are:
A violinist of great talent and character, Anele, who is 22 years old, was born in Imezamu Yethu and matriculated at Camps Bay High. In 2010 he won the Graham Beck scholarship to study at Stellenbosch University under Suzanne Martins. He is currently working towards the fellowship through Trinity College of Music, studying with Professor Jack de wet. He is ensemble programme manager at the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra Masidale outreach programme.
As well as his performing and practicing obligations, Anele is a strong supporter of CBN and deeply involved in our workshops. He is about to become a trustee of CBN.
‘I was fortunate enough by given opportunities to learn the violin that caused a major transformation in my life and which taught me a lot about will-power. I believe that by developing a passion for children in reading it will develop many other areas of their lives.’
CBN is really fortunate to have such an enthusiastic and passionate book-advocate on board. For more details of Anele’s career, please visit his Facebook Page.
