After much advance planning, we accomplished a five-day workshop mission to Calitzdorp, continuing over the Swartberg Pass to a meeting of minds in Prince Albert with the Slimlappies Project that works with the same age group as we do (10-15 years). We gave four reading workshops in Caliztdorp (report separate) and held two meetings with the staff and facilitators of the Prince Albert project, including a workshop for 20 children and 7 of their facilitators.
We are already planning a back-up mission early next year (funds permitting). There is deep pleasure in visiting schools that seldom have visitors – like most farm schools in the province. The welcome is always waem – and the difference we can make is obvious.
