We have been warmly welcomed by two prestigious local initiatives in connection with the Reading Toolbox Project.
Grootbos Trust has offered advice and collaboration on both the Blue Toolbox material (particularly on veld foods and survival in the wild) and – more particularly on the Green Toolbox, which will begin very shortly (The Environment). We are immensely grateful for this support and enthusiasm.
The De Hoop Collective
Welcomed Lesley to an intense two-day immersion in the incredibly powerful and moving exhibition they host on the development of early humans on the adjacent coast. In particular, discussion with their deputy manager and passionate guide to the exhibition Dalfrenzo Laing, who has substantially added to the possibilities of the Blue Toolbox.
Atlantis Project:
We were put in touch with this project to bring reading to more children, through our American friend, Melissa Heckler. Immediate discussion with Rotary Atlantis and Rotary Chappaqua in New York State, led to a meeting in Cape Town between Lesley and Dannie Pieterson, President of Rotary Atlantis and contact between the two of us and Chappaqua. This connection is still at its early stages, but we hope to be providing them with 15 Books and Stories handbooks by June. For more information on Atlantis, please go to: https://www.capetownmuseum.org.za/places/atlantis
CHAPPAQUA ROTARY:
We are gathering information for a partnership proposal to go to Rotary Chappaqua.
