Workshop for World Book Day

Some of our books went travelling (in their own suitcase) to Enlighten Educational Trust, where 16 children assembled on a rainy Saturday for a workshop that the facilitators enjoyed as much as they did.

We had books from fat to thin, from big to small, from tiny to huge – all with different purposes and functions. They were displayed and later available for absorbed reading.

We had stories read by Kelly Simu and Lesley Beake and by Takura Terry (with beautiful mbira accompaniment and rapt attention from the children. We had activities with Wilien, who also ran the workshop. We had juice and pizza (supplied by Enlighten). We had fun.

Reading IS fun – if you just have the right books. Attached to this article is a link to a short film clip made by Kelly for our instagram account.
