Pretty much everything changed in 2020 – for everybody - and CBN was no exception.
These are now smaller and more focused with only 12 children permitted at our small venues (instead of the upwards of 42 that occasionally turned up before!) We have access to two venues, one at De Kop where Vuyokasi Siza continues her excellent work with the children there, and one in Stanford Library, where Wilien van Zyl holds weekly workshops.
DE KOP ONGOING WORKSHOPS
These have been happening for over a year now, with restricted numbers of children reading and working through reading activities at Vuyo’s home. We also have access to a community hall, where more ambitious workshops can occasionally be held, but still with stricter access and smaller numbers.
STANFORD LIBRARY WORKSHOPS
Wilien van Zyl is doing sterling work with 12 regular CBN readers weekly at the local library. The children are exploring the material collected in the Red Toolbox and putting a great deal of effort into creative and imaginative ideas. They come direct to the workshops from Okkie Smuts school.
FUTURE WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN FROM DE BRON PRIMARY SCHOOL
In the third term, we will begin a third series of weekly workshops with children from a different area of Stanford South
Note: All pictures of children without masks re-date the pandemic. Our children wear masks, and we follow Covid protocols at all our events.
